Teenage Dirtbags | School Holiday Group Recap January 2023!

16th to 20th January

Our Teenage Dirtbags had an incredible week practicing life skills as a group, accessing the community, and cooking their chosen recipes! We started the week with some fun games of handball and bullrush. Everyone worked together in small groups to research recipes, writing a shopping and equipment list and working out a budget.

On Wednesday we went to the local café and ordered lunch and ate as a big group, with everyone socialising and sharing their favourite games and movies. In our small groups we went shopping for our recipe ingredients at the local Coles, experiencing the challenges of a busy grocery store successfully.

Each group member had their own roles in the kitchen and cooked some delicious puff pastry treats. As a group the Teenage Dirtbags were able to negotiate the space in the kitchen, create safety rules and work on their time management skills.

We finished the week by completing an obstacle course and bucking bull cricket by challenging our balance, coordination, and core stability. Everyone had a great time racing around the course! The whole group worked together to cook a final recipe with our leftover ingredients. Everyone did an amazing job to cook delicious cheese and bacon pastries and shared them at the end of our last day.

It was amazing to watch everyone build on their confidence through the week as well as sharing their ideas together.

We cannot wait to see all our teen friends again soon!

We are always building and growing our groups; any recommendations or ideas to continue to support our children are welcome.
