Big School STARS | School Holiday Group Recap January 2023!
Big School STARS
Group 1 - 9th to 13th January 2023
Our Big School STARS are all ready to shoot off into school after their amazing efforts in our school holiday program. This group focussed on continuing to build upon emerging skills foundational to support success in big school, such as emotional regulation, self-care, attention and concentration, fine motor, play and social skills.
The group explored and expanded their knowledge in social situations, such as thinking thoughts and feeling feelings, whole body listening, group plans, thinking with your eyes and body in the group. All of our Stars enjoyed learning and problem solving with their friends sharing in pretend play “Zombies”, playing tips/catch and even sitting down and sharing stories with each other.
Our STARS also made lots of craft involving sensory experiences and fine motor skills, making a range of farm animals, rockets that fly through the air and so much more! We are so proud of how well our group worked together and loved sharing the week with their new found friends.
Group 2 - 16th to 20th January 2023
After a big week of school readiness our STARS are ready to shoot off into big school.
During the week we focused on expanding the skills necessary for success in transitioning to school such as fine motor, attention and concentration, self-care, emotional regulation, play and social skills. Following a routine each day with play, floor time, reading, food break, craft and movement, the kiddos were able to get a feel of what a typical day at school could look like and they adjusted amazingly to this structure.
All of our STARS enjoyed exploring relationships with their friends through imaginative play, tips and sharing stories at lunch time. They supported each other on our ‘bucking bull’ balance and crashing game, and even added it to an obstacle course for an extra challenge!
Our STARS created rockets that fly through the air and snakes that slither across the floor and so much more with our fine motor craft activities.
We are so proud of all our STARS and cannot wait to see them shine in big school!
