Big School SuperSTARS | School Holiday Group Recap! January 2022
Our Big School STARS kicked some goals this year in our amazing school holiday group program. We ran 2 group prgorams this year, one from the 10th to 14th of January and the 17th to 21st of January. The goal of these groups was to provide opportunities for our kiddos to learn and further develop the foundational skills that support success at primary school. These skills included emotional regulation, sensory processing, self-care, attention and concentration, and play and social skills.
Every day the group explored and expanded their knowledge in social situations, such as thinking thoughts and feeling feelings, whole body listening, group plans, thinking with your eyes and body in the group. All our STARS enjoyed learning, experimenting and problem solving through these social concepts with their peers.
Additionally, we focused on our fine motor skills. Our STARS learnt how to recognise and write their names, how to hold and manipulate writing utensils, use scissors to cut a variety of shapes, and use glue and sticky tape. Their favourite way to learn was through using things such as shaving cream, painting, playdough rolling, drawing and colouring. Over the week our STARS developed great friendships and loved coming everyday day to challenge themselves, whilst learning new skills through fun and creative activities.
